Family Center Presents:
The
“Empower Your Parenting Technique” workshop series
Facilitated
by Karen Heart, LCSW*
October
5th 2009
– The Better Communication Technique: building
relationships, self esteem, and happiness
-
The Better Communication Technique (BCT) is the foundation for improving
yourself and your relationships. All of the other workshops refer to it,
sometimes extensively; therefore, it is highly recommended that you learn it
before taking other workshops. A tutorial of the BCT is also available online
for free at http://www.KarenLifeCoach.com/
if you wish to learn it on your own.
October
19th 2009
– Self Esteem for Parents
-
Following a brief (15 minute) lecture on self esteem, you will learn about your
own self esteem through a series of exercises and focused discussions.
Throughout the workshop, focused suggestions for building good self esteem will
be offered.
October
26th 2009 –
Relationships for Parents: partners, parents and other caregivers
-
This two-part workshop helps parents learn about issues in their relationships,
particularly with their own parents, their partners, and other caregivers. In
the first part of this workshop, participants will learn about three factors
that substantially affect relationships: power, pleasing others, and
misattribution of pain. Participants will perform exercises that reveal how
these factors specifically affect them in their lives. In the second part of
this workshop, participants will perform exercises and engage in focused
discussions about their relationships so that they can learn what underlies
problems in their relationships and how to cope better.
November
2nd 2009 – How
to Give Your Children Good Self Esteem
-
Learn what causes good self esteem and poor self esteem in our children. A
variety of topics that involve self esteem will be discussed, and focused
suggestions for building good self esteem will be offered throughout the
workshop. There will be plenty of time for questions, too!
